Fishing Tips
Adding legs to your Grubbie
Many years ago I began adding legs to my grubbies. I have been amazed
by the results ever since. I will pass on some of the things I learned the hard
way. At first I used living rubber. A definite no no. Use silicone skirt material.
The plasticizers in the grubbie material will not attack the silicone. This
skirt material can be purchased at most sporting good stores.
My next problem came when ( after sitting in my recliner watching T.V. and
inserting legs in my grubbies) I went fishing. I made my first cast, felt a strike,
set the hook, missed the fish and when I reeled in my grubbie I discovered one of the legs was missing. My solution was a small tube of super glue. I insert the legs in the grubbie, trim the legs and when I'm finished I pull the legs out
about 1/8th of an inch, apply a tiny bit of super glue to each leg next to the
body, then immediately pull them back into position. I tie my jig head on using
a loop knot and I'm ready to go fishing. It will be a great day!
